The Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) requirement is an integrity measure to ensure that the student visa programme is used as intended and not as a way for international students to maintain ongoing residency in the UK. The GTE requirement applies to all student visa applicants.

Travel, Tuition, and Living Expenses:
You must declare on your application that you have enough money to pay for travel, tuition, and living expenses for yourself and any dependents for the duration of your stay in the UK. The minimum required amounts vary depending on the circumstances and are outlined in detail in the official guidelines. Additionally, evidence of income from acceptable sources must be provided, along with any supporting documentation related to finances and income.
When considering whether the funds will be genuinely available, take into account additional information and supporting evidence provided by the applicant. This may include the nature of the relationship between the applicant and the person providing the funds, the applicant's income, assets, and employment, and the source of funds for any lump sum deposits.
Please ensure to provide appropriate proof of income from acceptable sources as outlined in the official guidelines. This may include tax statements, income statements, business statements, audited business accounts, loan documents, bank account statements, proof of rental income, proof of income from savings, and proof of income from agricultural land.
For fully funded students, evidence must be provided that the sponsoring agency, government, or organization will cover the cost of travel, tuition, and living expenses for the student and any accompanying dependents. Additionally, proof of funds must be provided for any dependents remaining in the home country, taking into consideration the local standard of living. If family members later decide to join the student in the UK, evidence of extra funds from acceptable sources must be provided to cover their expenses.
